With 31 days left to go before the Olympic Games in London, here at See Africa Differently we’ve caught a severe case of Olympic fever!

From boxing to badminton, football to fencing, over the next few weeks we’ll be taking a closer look at the African countries involved, as well as profiling the most promising African athletes who stand a chance of winning big in 2012. Including South African female footballer star Portia Modise who says she is “looking forward to representing the whole African continent- not only South Africa- and make the whole of Africa proud”

With Africa winning 41 medals during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, including 13 gold medals, and winning a further, whopping 107 medals at the 2008 Paralympic games, BBC Sport knows  “the continent’s campaign for glory will get going even before the Opening Ceremony on 27th July.”

But, if you can’t wait that long, and want to know what’s what, check out the A-Z guide from the Telegraph where you can find out more about the African nations competing this year!
Or you could follow us on twitter for all the Olympic updates straight to your newsfeed!

One of the athletes we will be looking at is 30 year old kayaker Benjamin Boukpeti, who is representing Togo in 2012! You can see the video of Benjamin’s training here…
